We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our global IT operations team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance tuning, security, and high availability of Oracle databases that support critical financial applications for a U.S.-based financial institution.

This is a remote position based in India, with close collaboration with teams across the U.S. and other international locations. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Oracle 12c/19c, RAC, Data Guard, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and database security in high-availability enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Oracle 12c/19c databases in production, test, and development environments.

  • Configure and support Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), Data Guard, and ASM (Automatic Storage Management) for high availability and disaster recovery.

  • Perform database patching, upgrades, backups, and restores using RMAN and other tools.

  • Conduct performance tuning (SQL queries, indexing, memory parameters, etc.).

  • Implement and monitor database security, access controls, and audit logs.

  • Collaborate with application development teams to support database-related needs.

  • Write and maintain automation scripts using Shell, PL/SQL, or Python for routine database tasks.

  • Participate in on-call support rotation and respond to critical incidents promptly.

  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and financial industry regulations.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments.

  • Expert-level knowledge of:

    • Oracle 12c / 18c / 19c

    • RAC, Data Guard, ASM

    • RMAN, OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager)

    • PL/SQL, Shell scripting

  • Strong troubleshooting and performance-tuning skills.

  • Experience with Oracle backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance in regulated industries.

  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oracle certifications such as:

    • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

    • Oracle Certified Master (OCM) (a plus)

  • Exposure to cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, AWS RDS, or Azure)

  • Experience in financial services, banking, or other regulated sectors

  • Familiarity with automation tools, DevOps, or IaC (Infrastructure as Code) practices

Work Environment

  • Remote position (India-based)

  • Must be available to work during U.S. business hours (EST/PST)

  • Participation in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support
