We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Jira Administrator with strong expertise in Jira Service Management (JSM) to join our global IT operations team. You will be responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of Jira and JSM environments that support enterprise ITSM, project management, and agile development workflows.
This is a remote position based in India, supporting a U.S.-based financial services organization, requiring alignment with U.S. business hours and collaboration with global stakeholders across IT, development, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain Jira Software and Jira Service Management (JSM) for multiple teams and business units.
Design, configure, and maintain JSM projects, service portals, SLAs, automation rules, queues, and custom workflows.
Manage user roles, permissions, groups, and project access following security best practices.
Create and manage custom fields, screens, issue types, schemas, and integrations.
Build and optimize dashboards, gadgets, and reporting for various stakeholders.
Integrate Jira with third-party tools such as Confluence, Slack, Bitbucket, Opsgenie, and others.
Partner with ITSM, DevOps, and Security teams to support incident, change, and problem management workflows.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to performance, configuration, or integrations.
Ensure system compliance, backup procedures, and maintenance plans.
Document processes, configurations, and best practices for user and admin reference.
Provide guidance and training to users and teams on Jira and JSM best practices.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a Jira Administrator, including at least 2+ years with JSM in a complex, enterprise environment.
Strong understanding of Jira Software, JSM ITSM modules, and Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
Experience with:
Jira automation (built-in and scripted)
Custom workflow design
Advanced searching with JQL
SLA metrics and reporting
Hands-on experience in managing user provisioning, permissions, and project configurations.
Familiarity with Atlassian Marketplace apps (e.g., ScriptRunner, Insight, Tempo).
Experience working with cross-functional teams in globally distributed environments.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Atlassian certifications such as:
Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator
Jira Service Management Certification
Experience in financial services or regulated environments (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001).
Knowledge of ITIL processes, particularly incident, change, and problem management.
Familiarity with REST APIs and scripting for automation/integrations (e.g., PowerShell, Python, JavaScript).
